The Indian railway catering and tourism corporation is one of the biggest e-commerce platform in India. IRCTC sells train tickets on Indian railways and also sells flight tickets. IRCTC has partnered with amazon to sell other e-commerce products in India.

The Indian railways has saw a possibility of launching an online platform for booking train ticket and started a subsidiary branch IRCTC. The IRCTC has laid a platform for many other e-commerce sites in India like flipkart.
Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation also organizes budget and deluxe package tours for domestic and foreign tourists. A popular tourism package for budget tourists covering important tourist destinations across India is "Bharat Darshan". Luxury tourism packages are also available, that involve special luxury trains such as Palace on Wheels, Royal Orient Express, Golden Chariot, Deccan Odyssey, Royal Rajasthan on Wheels, Buddhist Circuit Train and it is a partner in the Maharajas' Express operation.
Daily more than 5 lakh passengers book train tickets through IRCTC website. A train ticket can now be booked from the comfort of a traveler's home or office or even on a laptop in case the person is already on the road. Smart phones too have come into the picture to make things easier and one can book their tickets through special apps that make the entire process a cakewalk.
